Quick Incomplete Game Thoughts

Quick Incomplete Game Thoughts

These are quick thoughts of games I didn't beat or play long as I didn't like them or found them boring. Since I didn't beat them, I don't feel comfortable calling them reviews. Rather then write out a boring 2 – 3 page review of why they are not worth buying, I keep it brief.

Commando Jack:

Commando Jack is a tower defense game that was originally on mobile and it shows. The menu interface, the coins, and the bad aiming sensitivity are all examples of how it's a mobile game. It's an easy game regardless of difficulty or game mode. The only thing difficulty does is change how mach damage the enemies take and there being more obstacles blocking jacks ability to shoot the aliens. An interesting feature is you can take control of Jack or the rocket towers and participate in the fighting yourself. This also makes the game easy as all you need is 4 turrets to plow through the enemies. After 15 minutes, you have seen all this game has to offer. It's a mediocre game that isn't worth buying. I got it for free in a giveaway.

 Steel Storm Burning Retribution:

Steel Storm is a top down, arcade shooter that is slow and boring. What makes it boring is how slow you move. This might not be too bad if the levels were smaller and you didn't have to go back and forth through the levels, but that isn't the case. The slow speed also makes it hard to dodge enemy shots with some enemies like the lasers do instant damage. Even combat is slow with enemies taking a lot of damage on easy difficulty. Despite their being 26 maps, it can be beaten in around 3-4 hours. It does ave multi-player, but this game isn't worth buying. I got this game through an indiegala bundle.

Vikings: Battle of Nosgard:

You would think a game about vikings fighting the forces of hell would action packed and exciting, but you would be dead wrong. Combat is slow, clunky and repetitive. There isn't much thought to combat over then avoiding taking hits. If there was any music, it is easy to forget it. The concept was interesting, but the execution for this game is mediocre. The frame-rate is locked to 30 fps, but it frequently drops to 25 fps. This leads to the game feeling slow and sluggish. Just don't buy this game at all. I got this game for free from the Sega “Make War not Love 3” giveaway.

Stealth Inc 2:

Stealth Inc 2 is the sequel to Stealth Bastards, but I never played the prequel. The game is a puzzle, platformer game. If you were expecting stealth then look elsewhere as this game doesn't have it. Shadows do hide you from camera's but that seams to be it. The game involves locating test labs and completing the levels. These levels share the same 4 tunes and have the same background.

This game encourages you to speed run, but it is barely possible. I honestly wonder if the people with top times for each level cheated or broke the levels, because I barely make it with 2 seconds and that is with practice. The worst aspect is the inflatable which is activated with the left trigger button of the controller. Pulling off the right timing of activating it and jumping, so it flings you into the air is hard to time, and is required to do. It's not fun to speed run or comfortable to play.

Also, the developers never fixed the sound bug that affects creative lab sound cards, so you have to fix it yourself. It was only a month after it's release on the pc before they gave it away on humble bundle and I can see why. I got this game from free from humble bundle and I can't recommend this game to anyone. It's not worth buying.
